Week 12 - #2015PCChallenge - My First Bangle :)

Hi Everyone,

My apologies for the late blog again and late submission for the last week. I feel, I will have this challenge every time.

This week, I am so happy because after many months of 'wanting' to make a bangle, I finally finished one. I had multiple thoughts for the bangles - simple to complex one but couldn't jump to the complex one at first (mainly because of time issues), So I tried this simple one.

I had something like this in mind for a necklace but that would have taken significant time, dedication and efforts so I thought to transfer my idea to bangle. Thanks to all polymer clay artists who have given small tips on making the round shape... I being a very restricted oven user is scared of even putting glass/aluminum into high heat.. eventually I read and found that its safe.

I tried the round shape on Bear bottles..yes, they have use apart of making you drunk :).

I wanted to try subtle acrylic colors.. and various texture / scratch designs which enhance polymer clay. At the same time, I wanted to try fire color flash .

Material I used is the Black polymer clay, acrylic colors as you see in shades (green, yellow, red) and the bright lava color for the top irregular toppings :).

Frankly, I wanted to have some cracks on the top but while doing it through heat gun. While doing the process..something in between look appeared which I loved and stopped then and there.

The threading fits perfectly into the hand shape!!

Well, I am really happy with the results - and why not its my first polymer clay bangle :)

Thanks,
Rashi

Happy Claying!!!!

Week 11- #2015PCChallenge

Hi Everyone,

Couple of days back, I joined this #2015PCChallenge. Its really hard for me to sit with clay regularly until and unless I have some push or some design is really bothering my mind.

On the same note, I have crossed the initial inhibitions of any new artists who typically are scared of trying his/her thoughts instead of just getting motivated by other artists. Since last couple of months, I have become bold (thank God) with what I want to make /try and I am really happy with the results as well.

But I do have significant restriction of time hence, joining this challenge is gonna sure push me to try things which are jumping in my mind for long.. but I have been too lazy to try them :(.

This week (week 11), I really had short of time and haven't tried something majorly different... but I really wanted to try different things which can be done with liquid polymer clay... especially I love the shine which it brings to pieces.. so much resin like effect.

I used Helen Breils Texture sheet here and then focused primarily on highlighting texture through Pearlex colors and then the first time trial on adding liquid clay. Well, I had basic idea but wasn't sure if I would be able to turn it into something which I really wanted it to look alike.

But on my surprise, I somehow managed to bring the shine and the effect. I am a bad photographer, still you might not be able to see the complete details but it has come really awesome!!!

I am happy with the effects so far! For next week, I do have some different idea.. and I hope to spend enough time to convert it!!

Happy claying people. Have fun!!

..And finally I am on a blog!

Hi Everyone,

I think couple of years back I started a blog for which frankly I even don't remember the ID and password :) but after years now, when I actually started loving to read other people's blog - I thought why not have my own. And I finally made one.. yuppie!

I have restricted time but the whole idea of this blog would be to explore and share my learning's from my multiple passions and hobbies. I do have failures and successes with all my experimentations... and why not write it down.

So, let me get started this sharing experience.

Thanks and Have fun!
Rashi
